The Fix that works, ok so there are 2 common fixes out there for the yellow blinking light issue, they are 1. This is also a very common issue, I think that is partly why there’s a new version of the alpha already. The thing to note is, when I see all the posts of the people having this issue, not having success with the self-fixes that support tells them to do, then when they get the Alpha back from Dell and post that the main board was replaced. Replacing the mother board sounds quite substantial. There are suggested fixes on here and all over the internet, some people seem to get them to work but a lot of them don’t, and are told by ALIENWARE EMPLOYEES to send it back, which it great to help the customer out very easily. This for me happened days after I got it, so I left it plugged in and then it got worse, happened even if I restarted, then every time I tried to start it. Fairly quickly after receiving my wonderful gift, every time I unplugged it, then plugged back in it will not startup, the only thing that happens is a blinking yellow light on the power button, blinks 5 times then stop and repeats over and over. It's like I'm shorting these batteries out or something.If you are like me and bought the Alpha, you may be having the same experience. This latest battery is brand new and the connectors are secure. What is my problem here? Is it the motherboard? Note when I say it won't turn on, I mean literally pressing the power button has no effect at all. Well this morning I go to turn it on again, nothing. I repeat that several times and it continues to work. Realize I didn't leave the battery disconnected long enough, so leave it disconnected for twenty minutes. So now I happen to have the exact same kind of watch battery so I jury rig my own CMOS battery by removing the connectors from my old battery and securing them to this new battery with electrical tape. I've been through all of this before though so I shut down and immediately try to turn it back on, no go.

I update the BIOS time and I'm good to go. I figure the battery is dead so I order a new one. I tried the trick a second time and it didn't work. I played some games, shut down.Ī little later I tried to turn the Alpha on again and it wouldn't start again. I looked into and learned about the CMOS battery disconnection trick, so I went in and did that leaving the battery disconnected for twenty minutes before plugging it back in. After I put in the SSD, my Alpha wouldn't start. Need help folks! Had my Alpha since early days and recently upgraded the hard drive to an SSD.
